Point guard Antonio Daniels (pictured) is on the brink of becoming NBA royalty, as the draft class of 1997 prepared for its formal coronation Wednesday. Daniels, who excelled last season after an unheralded career at Bowling Green, has lived through a lot more than many of the youngsters that will be drafted with him in the first round.
First a Huge Shoe Contract, Now the Draft
Tracy McGrady may be only 18, but after averaging 27.5 points, 8.7 rebounds and 7.7 assists at Mount Zion Christian Academy last year, the 6-foot-8 forward decided to bypass college for the NBA. With a $12 million shoe endorsement already signed, McGrady is expected to be one of the top 15 players selected in the NBA draft Wednesday.
